About the Job

The Underwriting Analyst position involves assisting the Underwriting team in processing permanent loan requests pursuant to guidelines of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and within the credit risk parameters of KeyBank. Underwriting Analysts will help prepare full underwriting packages for submission to Credit Committee, complete administrative post-rate lock and post-closing tasks and assist in gathering the files for delivery to Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac.

Essential Job Functions

An Underwriting Analyst will be expected to assist the Underwriting team by completing administrative and analytic tasks as assigned by the Underwriter.    These tasks will include reviewing third party reports, completing portions of the underwriting spreads and credit memo, as well as coordinating with our offshore resources.  Ideally, the Underwriting Analyst can complete these tasks with minimal supervision and a sense of urgency.  In addition, the Underwriting Analyst will interact with the Borrower and third-party vendors in collecting due diligence and relaying questions/comments from underwriting.  An Underwriting Analyst may conduct Property inspections independently following training by an Underwriter, if necessary.   An Underwriting Analyst must demonstrate the ability to clearly articulate deal specifics, as well as time management skills that allows them to prioritize assignments and meet all timing milestones from application to delivery to Fannie/Freddie.  

Required Qualifications 

Candidate should have 1-3 years’ experience in real estate and commercial lending as well as strong organizational and time management skills.  Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks is critical.  Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Must be proficient in Word and Excel. Must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.  Must have college degree or equivalent experience. Must be able to work in the local Key office at least 4 days per week.

Training

Initial on-the-job orientation and manager supervision will be provided for basic duties with ongoing training provided by 1-2 predetermined Underwriters and Senior Underwriters.  More formal direct training may be offered from time to time.  The person in this position is expected to be able to work independently in the position with training and supervision as needed based on transaction complexity.
