KEY OBJECTIVE:
As a key member of commercial underwriting department, you would be responsible for establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with assigned brokers and independently managing a profitable portfolio of Manufacturing, Real Estate, Wholesale and Food Property & Casualty business to the team’s Retention, Cross-Sell, Renewal Change and Profit goals.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gather and analyze account information and make underwriting recommendations and decisions. Contribute to differentiated Customer Retention and Sales results. Develop and establish relationships with brokers. Develop customer-centric renewal strategies that align with the Company’s financial goals. Collaborate with team members and contribute to an engaging work environment. Handle individual risk inquiries/correspondence from brokers and make appropriate decisions. Monitor booking, retention, account rounding and renewal change accuracy. Contribute to projects as required to improve the business and continually develop personal skills. Identifying, analyzing and developing sources of new business to ensure growth targets are met. Development and execution of broker plans/marketing plans based on a tiered service structure Developing and establishing superior relationships with key brokers and insureds. Risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy on new and renewal business. Responsibility for profitably managing a renewal book of large accounts with a focus on developing new business, and meeting new business targets. Experience underwriting in any of the following industries is an asset: Manufacturing, Real Estate, Wholesale, Professional Services, Food, Retail.Proven ability to solve problems independently and with success. Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to follow-up independently. Excellent customer service and sales skills; experience in dealing with brokers. Completion of University degree and/or equivalent work experience. A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of underwriting or other professional work experience. High level of responsiveness and efficiency when working with stakeholders. Ability to respond as a team player, in a multi-task environment. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks. Large regional broker relationship management considered an asset. High degree of technical knowledge attained in current job. CIP or CRM designation or completed CIP/CRM courses considered an asset.
