The EMEA Underwriting Centre is a multi-lingual Centre focused on renewals for middle market and new business & renewals for e-traded business, based in Madrid. The role holder will lead and manage a team of language specific underwriters for the sales, renewals, and servicing of a defined portfolio of accounts. The position comes with accountability of between 8 and 12 staff members. Additionally, the role holder may be the Subject Matter Expert for a single line of business across all countries being managed within the underwriting Centre.

Responsibilities
Reporting on financial and non-financial performance measures. Make sure training needs of the team are identified and addressed. Coach more junior team members and manage referrals, contributing to the growth of the skills and capabilities of the team. Ensuring the team operates efficiently and capabilities are constantly improving. Portfolio Management and liaison with product owners to ensure strategy and appetite are applied consistently and underwriters are trained accordingly (where the TL has an assigned Line of business). Support portfolio improvements including the continued enhancement of the scope of migration of offline to online platforms and usage by brokers in New Business and Renewal process. Leading the underwriting team by coaching, supporting, encouraging, and advising team members. Manage the day-to-day operation and run regular performance appraisals with all team members. Monitor the portfolio and caseload of both the team and individual team members. Responsibility for the underwriting and trading of accounts within own authority. Be proactively engaged and contribute to future developments in Online Products and system development. Work closely with all stakeholder groups within Chubb. Ensuring that management are aware of any contentious issue which may escalate. Be the focal point for all escalated issues relating to the assigned line of business across all country teams (where the TL has an assigned Line of business). Support migration operational readiness planning, communicating with the appropriate stakeholders to facilitate dependency management and planning. Support the delivery of the migration from modelling through to implementation. Support audits, ensure timely implementation of recommendations and participate as an auditor when appropriate. Ensure adherence to Underwriting Guidance, Processes and Best Practices including usage of Portal / raters and other underwriting tools and drive consistency across all P&C LOBs. Deliver or Implement training as appropriate (technical, systems and processes). Drive Peer Review process ensuring adequate risk selection and assignment, timely completion of Reviews and completion of recommended actions. Ensure adherence to Sanctions, Compliance and Licensing including Insurance Remuneration Guidance.
Requirements and skills
Native/Bilingual level of German Advanced level(C1) of English Has experienced a high-volume environment where prioritization of tasks and pro-actively managing expectations is key. Experienced underwriter with knowledge of the Commercial Insurance market including knowledge of key areas of regulation and compliance.
