Underwriting Assistant

We are looking for a motivated individual to support our team of commercial bond underwriters by servicing thousands of different commercial surety bonds.  Our Los Angeles home office is comprised of a collaborative team of professionals.  

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Underwriting Assistant is to assist our Commercial Surety Bond Underwriters with day-to-day tasks. Responsibilities include review of company information profiles for completeness and accuracy, researching company histories, and maintaining agent records.  Additionally, assist with developing future opportunities through collaborative, service-minded business relationships.

Performance Objectives and Timeline

During the first 30 days: Ask questions and take a lot of notes to understand surety bond terminology, processes, and systems.  Develop trusting relationships with co-workers and clients, as well as with staff at various TMHCC Surety offices. During the first 3 months: Assist with online quotes.  Set up electronic files and gather reports from various sources.  Accurately enter critical and technical information into systems.  Prepare internal documents.During the first 6 months and beyond: Effectively prioritize assignments to support multiple team members.  Easily navigate between systems to maintain client accounts and process team’s requests. 

Experience & Education Qualifications

College graduate is preferred.Systems: Facility with using programs, systems, and gathering information from multiple sourcesSuccess characteristics:Basic understanding of financial information and analytical skillsKeen eye for accuracy, details, finding errors / missing informationCustomer service mindset – responsive with external customers and internal colleaguesExcellent organizational skillsExcellent written and verbal interpersonal skillsCuriosity to learn, and initiative to do more

For candidates working in person Los Angeles, the reasonable pay range for this specific position is $23.38 to $34.92 per hour.  The salary offered for this specific position is based on a number of legitimate, non-discriminatory factors set by the Company.
