Job Summary:

The Underwriting Assistant (UA) will provide support services to the underwriting department. Under the supervision of a department manager and associated team members, the UUA receives, evaluates, and processes electronic files and other data sources into the applicable computer systems.  The UA will comply with all policy and procedural requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

This position provides a variety of administrative, data entry and information processing services revolving around the support to the policy services and underwriting operations.

Policy Services

Process policy data and documents, maintain spreadsheets if required

Underwriting

Distributes electronic files and documents onto server storage, policy management system, document management system or other appropriate locations.

Paper Correspondence

Processes Paper Correspondence within SUNZ standard:

Scans paper documents.

Files documents in document management system.

Policy Services and Underwriting Procedures

Understands and adheres to SUNZ policy services and underwriting procedures.

Files all documents in the document management system and where appropriate.

Provides Quality Assurance on a monthly basis to including without limitation, merging electronic and paper files onto the server and document management system, when applicable.

Understands the functionality of all policy services and underwriting systems (automated and manual) and utilizes these systems as required.

Project Participation

Participates in policy services and underwriting and/or company projects as assigned.

Teamwork

Works collaboratively internally and externally to achieve SUNZ goals.

Provides input and feedback to Policy Services and Underwriting team members and managers for continuous process improvement.

Fills in for other team members to ensure business continuity during peak periods and/or when team members are unavailable.

Work Experience

Minimum 3 years or the equivalent of professional administrative and customer service work experience directly relating to workers’ compensation insurance or any other insurance related operation.

Education

No degree required but FL4-40 license preferred

Computer Skills

Experience utilizing the ecertsonline certificate system preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel format.

Ability to quickly review, discern, sort and process a high volume of Excel files into policy management system.

Excellent written/email communication skills that exhibit a high degree of accuracy.

Standard Work Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30a-5p (37.5 Hours per week) Additional hours may be needed based on business needs.
