Gloucester Insurance Ltd. provides professional indemnity insurance (PII) and other insurance to the member firms of EY.
Gloucester Insurance is inviting applications for the role of Underwriting Associate Director. The ideal candidate will provide sharp analytical and operational support to the underwriting team and manage special projects as needed by the business. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position supports activities related to underwriting, actuarial, and reinsurance.
Responsibilities:
Assist with updates and iterations of the premium allocation model Review actuarial and underwriting analyses, including methodologies and assumptions used in reserving analysis and loss forecasting Assist in designing and placing reinsurance programs, including liaising with brokers on renewal terms and policy conditions Negotiate and review policy wordings for complex insurance and reinsurance programs Manage the global fronting program for all lines of insurance underwritten by the captive Prepare underwriting papers and present them to relevant sub-committees Liaise with, and when necessary, meet with policyholder representatives of the member firms regarding the insurance programs Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for operational and technical issues with brokers, actuaries, fronting insurers, reinsurers, and other third-party providers
Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
A professional designation (e.g., ACAS, ACA, CPCU, etc.) Over 10 years of experience in insurance, professional services, financial services consulting, or a related field Experience in professional liability insurance for professional services firms (preferably Big 4 accounting firms) as an underwriter, broker, actuary, risk manager, or claims manager Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and interpret complex financial data effectively Excellent written and verbal communication skills Commercial acumen Experience with professional liability and/or cyber insurance programs is preferred. Travel may be required to engage with stakeholders, reinsurance partners, and service providers. Global experience preferred
