Victor has a unique opportunity to rapidly create a large and profitable business in the Binding Authority space. This space comprises small, Excess and Surplus Lines policies; where carriers are willing to provide binding authority and underwriting tools to their trusted partners because of the low limits, small premiums and high historic profitability. Marsh already handles a high volume of this business and currently passes it to competitors. We are looking for a seasoned underwriter to establish the capabilities that will allow us to quickly and expertly handle this Binding Authority business. In both Victor Access and Victor Small Business. This leader will need to have strong underwriting credibility in the E&S space, together with a track record of successfully building teams and navigating a complex matrix work environment. Location for this position is flexible. Preferred locations include New York, Bethesda, MD, Columbia, Sc and Denver, CO.
Underwriting Leader, Binding Authority
We will count on you to:
Lead and manage explosive growth of Victor’s Binding Authority program.
Effectively manage both new and existing carrier relationships.
Ensure the highest standard of technical underwriting for the binding authority business.
Collaborate effectively across the organization.
Monitor results and implement corrective action as necessary.
Gather market data and work with the product and leadership teams to identify new production opportunities and competitor activity.
Mentor and train emerging underwriting talent on underwriting guidelines, forms, market conditions, competitors, and relationship building.
Be an effective external ambassador for Victor in the Industry.
What you need to have:
BA degree in insurance, business, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive P&C experience and a track record of leading and growing insurance programs.
Outstanding technical underwriting knowledge.
Strong mathematical and analytical aptitude; critical thinking.
Proven underwriting, sales, and agency management skills.
What makes you stand out?
10+ years of progressive underwriting experience with agency management experience within the commercial insurance industry, E&S preferred.
Ability to underwrite more complex accounts, including knowledge of commercial property and casualty forms, pricing, and rating methodology, modeling, and valuation tools.
AU or CPCU certification in progress or received.
Strong verbal and written communication including formal and informal presentation skills.
Strong, trust based interpersonal skills for interacting with team members.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $95,600 to $203,700.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
