Underwriting Manager, Product Recall

How you will create an impact + Manages all Underwriting within a Product Recall. + Within Product Recall, establishes, implements, and evaluates the production and profitability goals. + Direct accountability for the business results of Product Recall with respect to profitability, penetration and/or volume + Drive and execute the long-term business strategy for Product Recall. + Serve as a technical expert, exercising technical authority with regards Product Recall. + Partnering with the leadership, manage annual budget process for Product Recall. + Within Product Recall, manage monthly forecasts. + In collaboration the leadership and HR, implement tools and strategies to attract and retain top industry talent and develop high performing teams. + Identify areas/positions within team that lack sufficient bench strength, and employees who require additional skills to fill those needs; develop and execute development/training/recruiting platforms/plans to address the deficiencies. + Establish strong relationships with leadership; create mutual understanding of overall parameters and goals to drive effective execution of business model. + Interact with all levels of Insurance community. + Drive a culture that promotes collaboration, diversity, and inclusion. + Oversee all underwriters within region(s) including managing and evaluating work of staff; makes decisions regarding pay, performance management, development, employment, and staffing. + Ensures the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained. What you’ll need to succeed + Strategic orientation, managing vision and purpose, developing organizational capability. + Results orientation. + Strong influencing and communications skills. + Ability to work across multiple areas of company and industries. + Assessing and developing talent. + Change management and team leadership. + Minimum 7-9 years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency, or Brokerage experience. + Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. + Analytical and quantitative skills; familiarity with actuarial data. + Knowledge of market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition, and distribution. + Process and system skills. + Experience with budgeting and expense control. + Experience managing or leading a team is preferred. For positions based in California, the base salary range is $192,000 - $240,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
