Work activities will include operating various pieces of Heavy Equipment including road graders, rock trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, shovels, excavators, tractors, loaders, and forklifts.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Perform heavy duty equipment operation as directed by the site superintendent and/or foremanAdditional duties as assigned. Qualifications

Required Skills:

Must have operators proficiency on a variety of equipment including but not limited to road graders, rock trucks, bulldozers, scrapers, shovels, excavators, tractors, loaders, and forklifts.Perform independently without direct supervisionAbility to operate basic construction equipment, such as forklifts and loaders.Good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to perform duties and operation of tools of the trade in strict compliance with OSHA rules.Have punctual and on time work history.Work well within a team setting

 

Required Experience:

Must have working knowledge of heavy highway constructionMust have 1+ years of related experience in highway construction.Must have 1+ year of prior work history as an operatorMust possess and maintain current drivers license.Must have a punctual work history.Must have a high school diploma or EquivalentMust be member of Local Union 302

 

Preferred Experience:

CDL license preferred but not required

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to have good motion of range for body and limbsHandle and manipulate objects and materialCoordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet and fingers to complete assigned tasksAble to utilize adequate visual skills.Able to utilize adequate hearing skills.Handle and manipulate objects and materialCoordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet and fingers to complete assigned tasksAbility to work at heights above 12 while working from ladders, scaffolding, and/or man lifts.Extensive physical activity.Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.Be able to reach in all directionsWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical part, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions and vibration.When operating equipment, subject to constant jarring of body due to jerking movement of equipment and operating on uneven surfaces.Must be able to sit in the operators seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc. required to safely operate the equipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment);Must be able to sit in the operators seat of equipment and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors (if authorized for that piece of equipment);

 

Environmental Conditions:

Will work in all types of weather.Work in different elevations.Job site will contain light to heavy equipment, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools.People standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking.May be occasional bells, alarms, and whistlesApplicant may be subject to environmental conditions of extreme cold, noise exposure, constantly changing work environment, irregular surfaces, slippery surfaces, moving equipment, open excavations, temporary structures, and general construction hazards.
