The Cardiovascular step-down unit cares for patients admitted for interventional cardiac procedures, medical cardiology, vascular surgery and the designated stroke unit. We serve patients with a variety of acute medical, cardiac, vascular and respiratory conditions.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs all duties including, but not limited to typing and PC applications, filing, business machine functions, telephone, and written communications, and assists in the facilitation of quality patient care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgements or administration of medications. The Unit Clerk will float throughout the Medical Surgical divisionEDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
High school graduate or equivalent, business school or formal secretarial training a plus. One to two years’ minimum experience preferred. Patient care experience, mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity preferred.
BLS/CPR certification and first aid training required.
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
PC and appropriate software knowledge, knowledge of office equipment and supplies. A solid understanding of department related terminology. Good communication skills both oral and written as well as good interpersonal skills required. Customer service oriented. Service specific skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Office/Clinical setting. Exposure class I.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light to Medium work (depending on the unit assignment). Requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying.

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
