The Yerkes Plant in Buffalo, NY is looking for a skilled leader with 10+ years of Production and Chemical plant experience to fill a vacant Unit Leader position for Corian® operations. This individual will oversee the line management responsibility for an organization composed of approximately 180 DuPont production employees including Process Control Technicians, Run and Maintain Engineers and quality control technicians. This position provides strategic direction for all aspects of the Corian® unit which includes acrylic product manufacture, mix preparation, acrylic sheet casting, sanding as well and product shipment. **Unit Leader** is an experienced leadership role that delivers profitable results and long-term value consistently aligned to business objectives. The Unit Leader engages all employees in DuPont's Operational Excellence framework; Instills behaviors and mindsets for operating safely; Manages plant financial performance with discipline and rigor and builds a sense of pride and ownership at all levels. **This position is part of the multi-site overall leadership team and will oversee other leaders. Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:** + Sets expectations and is accountable for maintaining a unit culture that models and supports DuPont Core Values. + Accountable for unit’s performance including EHS, PSM, cost, quality, capital, production and associated tracking systems. + Leads cross-functional efforts as the primary interface with off-site personnel including the Corian® Supply Chain Manager and various other leadership roles (including business, technology and manufacturing) as well as corporate support resources. + Manage the unit’s infrastructure capabilities, improvement and resource plans. This includes identification and application of Lean and Six Sigma tools to deliver improvements through engagement and problem-solving. + Active participation in the site leadership team and associated site improvement initiatives. + Oversee the operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with support from other site leadership team members. + Representing the site in community outreach efforts (e.g.: United Way). **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in engineering or science and 10 years of equivalent experience (production, chemical plant, etc.) REQUIRED. + Demonstrated background of leadership experience managing large teams (i.e. Unit/Production Manager, Area Manager, Maintenance Leader, or Functional manager) within production and chemical plant REQUIRED. + Process Safety Management in high hazard process experience. + Cost management experience. + Strategic planning and business analysis experience. + Teambuilding and consensus-building experiences. + Personal behavior that models and demonstrates accountability for maintaining DuPont Core Values. + Prior experience working in a union site; experience with union labor contracts. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Process Safety Management (PSM): 1910.119 highly preferred. + Experience and background in Quality Systems. + Six Sigma Green Belt/DPS Expert/Lean Management certification desired; Black Belt/DPS Lead Expert. **About the Site:** The Yerkes site employs approximately 435 DuPont employees and another 60-80 contractors. In addition to the Corian® operation, Yerkes is the home for Corian® R&D and solid surface production. The Corian® business is part of the Shelter Business Division at DuPont and in turn part of the Water and Protection DuPont business segment. The Shelter business has landlord responsibilities for the Yerkes site with the Tedlar® business as Tenant. The two business units work collaboratively to share, where appropriate, improvement approaches, resources and site infrastructure support. The bargaining unit employees (operators, mechanics, lab technicians and clerical group) are represented by a local 6992 of the United Steel Workers union. Each role has an associated pay range (or an established pay rate for some roles) based on the competitive market in each country where we operate.
