You are a strategic, innovative facilities safety manager ready to help clients optimize their business!

 

Sodexo is seeking a Unit Safety Manager  for a pharmaceutical client located in Boston & Cambridge, MA. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure a safe work environment at two client sites by providing strategic safety oversight. This role drives a safety culture at the site level, and will be responsible for recognizing and mitigating any potential risks surrounding Health & Safety, in construction projects. This position is responsible for ensuring the implementation and compliance with the client’s safety policies and ensures legal compliance to all Federal, State and Local regulations. 

 

This position will be required to be on site 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities:

Successful client and third-party audits of Sodexo and client HSE activitiesTimely reporting and investigation of HSE related incidents and audit findingsAdded value to the business through implementing efficient, standardized systems and processesMaintain an effective relationship with the client Maintain communication with key Sodexo and client personnel, monitoring HSE and providing support, advice and expertise to operational teams at all levelsProvide expertise in Health, Safety and Business Risk and advice and consultancy for the clientPerform inspections of HSE compliance for all project activities which Sodexo provide to the clientWork with client and Sodexo teams to investigate, analyze root-causes and implement corrective actions (CAPA) where HSE deficiencies are discoveredPresent HSE related topics to Sodexo and client management and produce reports as requiredConduct training in HSE topics to the wider Sodexo operations teamPromote and develop a health and safety culture which secures effective implementation of policy, procedures and responsibilitiesEnsure compliance with contractor safety programPerform Daily site walkthroughs to identify areas of non-compliance (E.g. Blocked exits, trip hazards, improper storage) and work with area personnel to correct observations

 

Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who have:

 

A Bachelors Degree or 5 years Equivalent Experience in R&D FacilitiesKnowledge of site specific and OSHA requirements, and can measure the effectiveness of Operational Excellence / HS&E strategies and programs in a fact based and objective manner  Experience training staff, overseeing project work, proactive evaluation of potential hazards, thorough reporting and safety communicationsUnit specific knowledge of policies and procedures for controlling occupational health, safety, and environmental hazards that come under Federal, State, and local regulations (e.g., Control of Hazardous Energy; Permit Required Confined Space Identification and Entry, Asbestos, Lead, Right to Know (GHS), Fall Prevention, Slips/Trips/Falls, Storm Water, etc.)Complete Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental audits. Recommend, justify, implement, and manage safety devices, equipment, and/or products that help protect employees and customers and mitigate lossesNo less than 5 years relevant experience administering Corporate Safety ProgramsPlease note the max compensation for this position is $130,000 annually 

As part of the compensation package, in alignment with Boston's commitment to transit and eco-friendliness, Sodexo will cover expenses related to train and public transportation. Any travel expenses outside of the Boston transit commitment, will not be reimbursed.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 5 years   

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years of related experience
