Responsibilities

Communication:

Establish and maintain effective interpersonal skills within the care delivery teamAnswer phone/intercom in a polite, friendly, respectful, manner and relay messages to appropriate resource in a timely helpful mannerUse appropriate communication and negotiation skills in interactions with othersAddresses conflicts as soon as possible with immediately involved parties; and escalating as necessaryProvide general support for team responsibilities encompassing maintenance of a safe environment, problem identification, conflict, resolution skills, cooperation, commitment, and appropriate utilization of resourcesDemonstrate responsibility and dependability by adhering to assigned work schedule

Clerical Support:

Utilize Computer Information System according to established standard for position and unitAssist with Order EntryPerform clerical duties in support of the admission/discharge/transfer/death processKeeps medical record in orderTranscribe selected physician orders encompassing tests, treatments, consults, medications, permitsPrepares related requisitions and notify appropriate departments and agenciesMaintain and keeps current files, and assist with the management of bulletin communication boardsOrder supplies/equipment for serviceArrange for repair and replacement of facilities and equipment as needed and keep related recordsArrange for escort services of patients, specimens, supplies, equipment, and other items between unit and other areas of the hospital

Professional Growth:

Maintain knowledge and skills through self-development and participation in unit and department in-services and staff meetings on a regular basisIdentify learning needs through self/peer/Director evaluation and pursue education/support to meet identified needsParticipate in annual mandated programsMaintain competencies both hospital-wide and unit specific
