Unit Secretary – Mercy Health Urgent Care locations

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Unit Secretary provides clerical support to the nursing unit.  As a member of the nursing unit, the Unit Secretary conducts themselves to promote an organized and positive culture on the unit.

Essential Functions: 

Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve caller problems and specific request in a timely manner Provides excellent, customer-focused service by prioritizing and navigating all internal and external calls in a prompt respectful manner from both internal customers and the communitySchedules discharge follow up appointments; assists in recording traumas and codes within the facility Performs other administrative or clerical duties and projects as assignedOther duties as assigned

Education:

High School Degree or GED

Experience:

Prior healthcare clerical work (preferred, not required)

Training: 

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred, not required)

Skills & Abilities:

Possesses problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, 25 WPM typing skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skillsEngage with staff and patients in a professional mannerAbility to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment
