Examples of Duties for Success This position will supervise a combination of both Assessment and Permanency duties depending on the need of the agency. Assessment/Permanency: + Provides immediate and scheduled supervision, and case consultation to a team of caseworkers to ensure outcome measures are being met, assist with development of case planning to improve the outcomes for children, youth and families, barriers are addressed, and solutions are created. + Ensures the compliance of county, state, and federal mandates and utilization of tools identified in assessing the safety/risk of children. Reviews unit and section statistical data on a regular basis to identify trends and patterns of staff/team performance and defines specific plans for training and staff development to ensure effective individual and team performance. + Provides support and ongoing mentoring for staff, as well as training for new staff. + Provides direct field supervision and observation of staff on a quarterly basis to assist with staff development and feedback. + Attends and/or facilitates group supervision, red team and staffing with collaterals and clients, as needed, to ensure continuity and appropriateness of services delivered. + Reviews and approves documentation, assessments and court reports while holding the shared responsibility of decision making as well as ensuring the appropriate involvement to address safety, wellbeing and permanency of children and youth. + Participates as an active member of supervisor leadership team to co-develop direction, outcomes, and program evaluation to ensure consistent leadership and effectiveness for staff. Provide program updates to POD Manager and strategize program adjustments with other leadership team members, as needed, to ensure effective services and streamlined programming to best meet the needs of children and families. Qualifications for Success + Knowledge of child protection principles and social casework practice, as well as an ability to teach these principals to new and developing staff. + Knowledge of supervisory and management techniques such as case monitoring, planning, organizing, delegation of duties, work allocation, staff appraisal, team building, goal setting for individuals, the team, the section, and leadership. + Skills related to supervising, including the ability to provide supportive accountability to team members. + Ability to review, interpret, and utilize data to inform practice and to make recommendations to improve overall effectiveness for programs and unit/section. + Ability (or willingness to learn) to assess group dynamics and ways to increase overall team functioning. Commitment to effective teamwork with peers to provide effective leadership to section. Demonstrated team development skills. More Qualifications for Success Experience: Four (4) years of full time professional social casework experience acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency in an area appropriate to the position. Education and Training: + Bachelor's Degree in one of the human behavioral science fields. + A Bachelor of Social Work may substitute for 1 year of the required experience. + An MSW may substitute for 2 years of the required experience. + Proof of education, (degree or transcripts), and license (if candidate has received one) are required. License or Certificate: + Must be eligible to become a certified supervisor through the State Child Welfare Academy or already be certified. + Possession of a valid driver's License and proof of automotive insurance. Background Check: • Must pass a criminal background check.
