At our Universal City office, interns will have access to the NBCUCommutes program, which provides fully subsidized transit passes to full-time lower lot employees, good for unlimited rides on all Metro bus and rail, such as the Metro Red Line.

Universal Products & Experiences (UP&E) globally drives the expansion and elevation of NBCUniversal’s iconic collection of brands, intellectual properties, characters, and stories based on the company’s extensive portfolio of properties created by Universal Pictures, Illumination, DreamWorks Animation, and NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. The division executes this through innovative physical and digital products, engaging retail and product experiences across our expansive global theme park destinations (for both owned and third-party IP), location-based venues, e-commerce product platforms, and retailers around the world. Along with global brand strategy and creative, UP&E’s three lines of business include Consumer Products, Games and Digital Platforms, and Theme Parks Products & Retail. Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:
Retail Marketing: The Retail & Marketing Intern will support the Retail Development and Marketing teams in their execution of retail strategy and marketing plans in order to cultivate brand growth and drive revenue throughout retail. This role is ideal for university undergraduates aspiring to explore a career in Consumer Products, Games, and Digital Platforms based on the company's extensive portfolio of intellectual properties created by Universal Pictures, Illumination, and DreamWorks Animation. Responsibilities will include: supporting retail marketing and sales efforts with the goal of building brand equity and driving consumer engagement and product revenue; producing recaps and maintain records of promotional events and cross-company campaigns for NBCUniversal, Universal Pictures, and Universal Parks; preparing weekly competitive analysis on social media and third party Retail Media; generating major summer theatrical recap presentations for all retailers (i.e. Walmart, Target, Amazon, Hot Topic, Kohl’s etc.); and maintaining and distributing Retail Buyer Lists/Org Charts and Retail Meetings Calendar.
Category Management: This role will support the Dolls, Plush, IE, and Activity teams in day-to-day category management, including participating in internal and external meetings as well as providing admin support related to licensees and cross-functional teamwork. Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to: following up with licensees on business needs, helping with Media Box marketing submissions, and supporting tasks for the Director and team.
QualificationsBasic Requirements:
Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (June 2025 through August 2025). May 2025 graduates are not eligible for our Summer 2025 Internship Program.
Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.
Desired Characteristics:
Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Strong communication and presentation skills with a creative mindset.
For Retail Marketing: High interest in marketing; Strong project management skills; Fluent in Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and Keynote.
For Category Management: Strong project management skills; Fluent in Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and Keynote; Knowledge of general retail environment and trends on social media, especially with Kids and Gen Z; Familiarity with or openness to learning systems like Circana to pull and interpret data.
The hourly rate for student interns is $17.50.
