**POSITION DETAILS**

The Office of Academic Affairs seeks a University Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Academic Programming and Policy. The position works collaboratively with administrators and faculty throughout the University system and the Central Office to provide administrative expertise, regulatory knowledge, and consultation on University policy, new academic program development at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and faculty personnel actions. Resolving programmatic questions among campuses and providing counsel to the Senior University Dean for Graduate and Undergraduate Academic Programming, the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Faculty Affairs, and the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and University Provost are among the position’s key responsibilities.
The incumbent focuses on academic policy at all levels and on new academic program development. They work collaboratively with campus faculty and administrators on all aspects of new program development, from initiation to submission to the CUNY Board of Trustees (BoT) and the New York State Education Department (NYSED). The University Associate Dean also reviews and makes recommendations regarding campus early tenure requests and departmental organizational matters that require BoT action. A chief liaison to NYSED, the University Associate Dean reviews and drafts, as required, BoT resolutions related to academic matters. They work collaboratively with the University Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies, the University Director of Academic Planning, the University Dean for Health and Human Services, and the University Dean for Education on the continued enhancements of the University’s academic offerings at all levels.
Reporting to the Senior University Dean of Graduate and Undergraduate Programming, acts as their senior advisor on matters of academic policy, program development, and University governance matters. The incumbent is a key member of the Senior University Dean’s Cabinet, serves on the Executive Vice Chancellor’s Academic Cabinet, and on the University’s Council for Academic Policy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Oversees all aspects of new academic program development.
+ Manages academic policy actions.
+ Oversees Board Resolutions related to all academic matters.
+ Manages faculty personnel actions and campus organizational matters that require BoT approval.
+ Collaborates with university deans and directors on academic programming, compliance, accreditation, and policy matters.
+ Acts as the primary liaison to campus faculty and administrators for academic program initiation.
+ Act as the University’s senior liaison to NYSED for academic programs and organizational matters.
+ Leads special initiatives of the Office of Academic Affairs as assigned.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
**NOTE:**
Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Minimum:
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
Preferred:
+ Master’s/professional degree preferred.
+ Experience in higher education, public, private and/or nonprofit sector roles with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.
+ Significant expertise in leading and developing academic programs in higher education settings.
+ Strong skills in change management initiatives including organizations design, new program development and strategic growth.
+ Outstanding written and oral communication skills and ability to effectively engage multiple audiences.
+ Knowledge of public higher education policy issues, trends and understanding access and equity issues.
+ Ability to:
+ think strategically, problem-solve, and develop programs and plans to achieve organizational goals.
+ work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding and complex work environment.
+ Demonstrated commitment to workplace diversity, accountability, and transparency.
+ Proven ability to master new technologies and software and use them effectively.

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**
The salary range is **$130,000 - $145,000** , commensurate with qualifications, education and experience.
