Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) and Missile Software Architect

SNC is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Software Architect to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall software architecture design and integration of UAS. In this role, you will lead a team of engineers responsible for developing and testing operational flight software for UAS and missile applications. Your expertise in software engineering, technical leadership, and strategic planning will drive innovation and excellence in our software development processes.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of software architecture for UAS and missile systems.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and project managers, to ensure cohesive system integration.Define software requirements, specifications, and design documentation.Develop and maintain software development plans, schedules, and budgets.Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security protocols.Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.Oversee the implementation and testing of software components and systems.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to software development teams.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Bachelor's of Science degree Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experienceHigher education may substitute for relevant experienceAdvanced capabilities using Computer Aided Engineering toolsDemonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practicesExperience working in multi-disciplinary teamsMinimum of 10 years of experience in software architecture and development for aerospace and defense applications.Extensive experience with embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and software development for UAS and missile systems.Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.Knowledge of communication protocols, control systems, and sensor integration.Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirementsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication and leadership abilities.Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

Experience with simulation and modeling tools, such as MATLAB and Simulink.Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $165,010.21 - $226,889.04. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants.
