This is a short-term, contract, lecturer appointment, which will provide instruction for a non-credit bearing course for the following program: **_Upward Bound: June 8th - July 18th, 2025_** We seek instructors who can help our students grasp course content effectively and find the confidence to see themselves thriving in a college context. CUUB Instructors must be authorities in the content of their course, but more importantly they must also enact a pedagogical philosophy that aligns with the mission, vision, and values of CUUB and be attuned to the specific needs, strengths, and cultural backgrounds of our students. Upward Bound is one of six Federal TRIO Programs designed to serve high school students from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rates at which participants enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education. The CU Upward Bound program (CUUB) currently serves 103 high school students from 13 high schools located in 6 different communities: Navajo, Ramah Navajo, Ute Mountain Ute, Pine Ridge, Albuquerque, and Jemez Pueblo. **What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be** + Attend the class(es) you are hired to teach, being responsible for classroom management + Enter grades, lesson plan, submit copy of course syllabi to CUUB Director + Create duties for the Instructor's Assistant in the classroom + Attend required training and weekly staff meetings + Maintain active communication with Director of the program **What You Should Know** + Participants of our programs are primarily first-generation students thus we require the instructor to have experience supporting and teaching our first-generation student population. + This position does require you to teach in-person, and as an employee of the university you will be required to abide by university policies. + This is a temporary appointment with the university as a lecturer and does not qualify for university benefits. + We strongly encourage the instructor to use a web-based platform for course deliverables and materials (if applicable). + The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement can provide, at no cost to the instructor, course materials and printing if requests are made two weeks in advance. **What We Can Offer** Compensation will vary depending on the class being taught; compensation will range from $2,794.64 - $3,701.60. **Benefits** The University of Colorado offers excellent benefits (https://www.colorado.edu/jobs/benefits) , including medical, dental, retirement, paid time off, tuition benefit and ECO Pass.
