The Opportunity
Our Urban Energy team in London is a trusted adviser for city policy and action on climate change, low carbon energy, global green cities and a leading consultant in the planning, design and delivery of low carbon infrastructure in the UK. The team has a strong dedication to net zero carbon for a sustainable and more resilient future. We are a multidisciplinary group of engineers, scientists, policymakers and planners working across various scales from high level policy development through design, project delivery and operational optimisation. Over recent years we have gained international recognition for our role in high-profile projects in the field of cities and climate change, working with some of the leading thinkers and drivers of change, including the UK Government, energy companies, C40 Cities Climate Groups and many others.
As an energy specialist, you will work as part of a peer group of specialists and consultants, accompanied by a diverse team of project managers, consultants and senior leaders. The role requires deep content knowledge in the field of energy and the built environment, together with a sound understanding of qualitative/quantitative analysis and excellent report writing and communication skills. As a consultant in the team, you will work as part of a diverse and vibrant peer group from varying technical backgrounds.
Modelling of energy and/or emissions to inform energy, and sustainability strategies, underpin the core of this opportunity. The successful candidate would also support colleagues by undertaking consulting projects including energy masterplans and energy infrastructure feasibility studies. The team is developing whole systems energy modelling approaches and working for various public and private sector clients. With our keen digital focus, you would be encouraged to review city data (quantitative/qualitative) and policy to advise on optimal planning and delivery of low carbon interventions.

Is this role right for you?
We are looking for the following skills and knowledge:
Qualifications in engineering (mechanical, electrical or chemical) or other disciplines provided that the degree includes a particular focus on energy. Energy master planning, concept design, production of technical specifications, techno-economic analysis, feasibility, procurement, and project implementation. Skills in advising public and private sector clients on options, risks and appropriate actions. Up to date knowledge of relevant developments and trends in the energy sector as well as knowledge of qualitative and quantitative analysis of energy data and trend Knowledge of current UK climate and energy policy and legislation as well as appreciation of systems thinking or complexity theory.Not ready to apply just yet, or have a few questions?
