If you would like to join us on our mission, apply today! **Position Highlights** POSITION SUMMARY: The duties of the Non-Physician Provider cannot be rigidly defined, but the following description characterizes common expectations of the position. The primary responsibilities may not be interpreted to prohibit functions not specifically identified. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DETAILED DUTIES: Adheres to policies and procedures of Urgent Care, RHSHC policies and procedures, meeting minutes, all memos, client education, staffing policies, and personnel. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment. Abides by the RHSHC medical staff by-laws. Uses a holistic approach in conducting a comprehensive or episodic health assessment of patients/families with real or potential health problems. Demonstrates critical thinking/diagnostic skills in clinical decision-making and identifies barriers to optimal care. Collaborates and coordinates with physicians, other health care professionals, patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate methods of health care delivery. Perform routine therapeutic procedures such as: Prescribe medications in accordance with pre-approved protocols as directed by the supervising physician. Debridement, suture and care of superficial wounds. Administer local infiltrative anesthesia. Suture or repair of lacerations of skin or subcutaneous tissue. Removal of foreign bodies from the skin. Removal of impacted cerumen. Anterior nasal packing of epistaxis. Application and removal of orthopedic casts under the supervision of the physician. Application of physical therapy modalities such as teaching crutch walking, range of motion and muscle strengthening exercises. Incision of drainage of superficial abscesses. Strapping, casting and splinting of sprains. Elicit a complete, detailed and accurate history Perform an appropriate physical examination including pelvic exams when indicated Assess, diagnose and treat non-complicated medical or surgical problems and record the findings and actions as delegated by the supervising physician. Instruct and counsel patient regarding matters pertaining to their physical and mental health, such as diets, social habits, family planning, normal growth and development, and long-term management of their disease or problem Provide follow-up and health maintenance care including appropriate adjustments of medications in accordance with established protocols or specific instructions from the supervising physician; manage common medical problems and side effects associated with treatment therapies. Orders appropriate laboratory, radiologic and related studies, procedures or therapies as appropriate to the patient. Administers and/or orders appropriate medications. Performs therapeutic procedures inclusive, but not limited to, injections, immunizations, , suturing, and gynecological exams. Assesses, diagnosis, and treats medical problems. Provides appropriate and accurate documentation and/or dictation for all patient encounters. Codes appropriately, based on the documentation and established standards. Refers patients to appropriate specialists. Maintains awareness of community services, agencies, resources and health facilities. Admits patients to hospital or health care facility in collaboration with physician. Promotes and maintains positive working relationships in a collegial manner with co-workers, medical staff and personnel of other departments and demonstrates effective communication skills. Assist others needing help as necessary and displays flexibility in job responsibilities. Performs other responsibilities as requested by the VP of Ancillary services and supervising physician. Directs other clinical staff in the provision and execution of medical care. Assures quality patient care by appropriate monitoring and evaluation and participation in CQI activities in the urgent care setting. Represents the interests of the medical staff and other departments of the health care system. Participates in the required activities of RHSHC and/or appropriate regional hospitals. Participates in and assists in the development of staff educational in-service meetings and promotes the application of new knowledge relevant to the Urgent Care. Acts in a professional manner reflecting the mission, philosophy and values of RHSHC. Maintains and enhances a current level of knowledge relative to professional practice as well as continuing education requirements necessary for licensure. Regular and reliable attendance is expected. Participates in the orientation of new employees and students. Provides education to staff as needed within the scope of knowledge. Attends and participates in department staff and committee meetings. Participates in peer evaluations and self-evaluation and goal setting. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:ARNP: Graduate of a Masters of Nursing Program Successful completion of certifications Current licensure in the state of Iowa as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Demonstrated competency as an ARNP through previous experience is preferred Board eligible or certified RHSHC privileges including but not limited to BLS Excellent verbal and written skills are required, including ability to work with a team Physician Assistant Graduate of a CAHEA approved Physician Assistant training program is required. Successful completion of certification Current licensure in the state of Iowa as a Physician Assistant Demonstrated competency as a Physician Assistant through previous experience is preferred. Board eligible or certified RHSHC privileges including but not limited to BLS Excellent verbal and written skills are required, including ability to work with a team. Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program required. Graduate of an accredited Masters of Nursing program with an adult and/or family focus preferred. Successful completion of certification of adult or family Advance Nurse Practitioner. Current licensure in the State of Iowa as an Advance Nurse Practitioner or eligible to obtain. Three years' experience as a registered nurse in a clinical area required. Attain privileges for delegated medical functions. Graduate of a Masters Prepared Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistant program ARNP/PA experience is preferred, experience can be as a nurse or related Must maintain a current license to practice in the state of Iowa as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant National Certification is required At Avera, the way you are treated as an employee translates into the compassionate care you deliver to patients and team members.
