Urgent Care Technician

Beth Israel Lahey Health Urgent Care is seeking an Urgent Care Technician for our Quincy location. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Lead RN, performs multiple clinical responsibilities in coordination with a team of healthcare providers to expedite the flow of patients through urgent care and provide the best experience and care for patients. Hours per week: 36 This position is day shift, 12-hour shifts, which includes weekends. Full time, benefit eligibility Duties and Responsibilities: Prioritize and complete responsibilities delegated by nurse/physician. Work in a collegial and collaborative manner with other health care providers to determine the needs of the patients and their families. Communicates effectively in the exchange of information to ensure quality and continuity of patient care. Assists providers in the delivery of care and assists patients who have physical and psychological limitations during the course of their care. Perform a variety of duties including but not limited to: Vital signs, EKGs, wound care, splinting, removal sutures, crutch walking, and patient activities of daily living. Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection and point of service lab testing according to protocol and quality control standards. Communicate results in a timely manner to the appropriate staff and document in the electronic health record (EMR). Assist with and/or perform transportation of patients and utilize appropriate equipment to provide for safe patient handling. Prepare patient rooms before and after patient examinations, following Infection Prevention practices and in a manner that assures timely use of available space. Clean patient equipment following the designated process. Follow equipment management policy and assure broken or out of order equipment is appropriately documented/tagged and removed from service area. Maintains supply inventory needed to maintain daily operations. Stocks supplies, linen or office goods. Routinely reviews supplies to assure expiration dates are managed. Become proficient in CCC and MediTech and will assist with front desk coverage when needed. Maintain annual mandatory education requirements that include mandatory education, and unit based competencies. Complete within time period assigned. Participate as directed with quality improvement studies and activities specific to the urgent care. Minimum Education: High School graduate/GED or equivalent years of related work experience to demonstrate comparable skills. Completed training program for EMT, Paramedic, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant required or, an enrolled nursing student with completion of one clinical rotation. Minimum Experience: Direct patient care experience required, 1-2 years of Emergency Department or first responder experience preferred. Experience in one or more of the following capacities is required: nursing student, phlebotomist, nursing assistant, paramedic, EMT or medical student.
