Urgent Care Veterinary Technician

About Us: VCA South Shore Weymouth Animal Hospital is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Urgent Care Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic team in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Position Overview: As an Urgent Care Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to pets experiencing urgent medical issues. You will work alongside our veterinarians in a fast-paced environment, performing a variety of tasks to support diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide care to ill or injured animals, including triage, stabilization, and treatment.Assist veterinarians with diagnostic procedures such as radiographs, ultrasounds, and lab tests.Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed.Monitor and record patient vital signs, progress, and response to treatments.Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing clear explanations of treatment plans and answering questions.Maintain work areas to ensure a safe and clean environment.Manage urgent situations calmly and efficiently, prioritizing patient needs and resources.

Qualifications:

Certification or degree as a Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT, or equivalent).Experience in an emergency or urgent care setting is preferred but not required.Strong clinical skills, including the ability to perform venipuncture, intubation, and catheter placement.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Compassionate and dedicated to providing exceptional patient care.
