(Export Administration Regulations) - If they can name it, ask for elaboration on their experience with EAR and notate the response in the writeup. - What goods do you have experience with? **Job Summary:** The US Export Specialist is responsible for the international shipment management, document compliance, and accuracy for the company’s outbound shipments from the United States. This role is knowledgeable in export compliance functions and works with external/internal service providers to ensure speed and compliance of exported products from Cooper Surgical in the U.S. The Export Specialist will follow the company’s international trade compliance policies, global logistics policies, and quality initiatives in all activities. The position will perform the responsibilities detailed below and other duties and projects as assigned. **Essential Functions & Accountabilities:** + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Title 19 of the CFR and other governmental agency regulations and best practices. + Experience in assisting trade compliance staff to determine export licensing requirements for items under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). + Knowledge of US and global laws on export sanctions-related denied party screening, embargo country management and similar. + Able to work with internal partners such as customer service on export orders. + Execute required export documentation on export shipments in time sensitive environment. + Work with freight forwarders for timely pickups. + Experience in working in warehouse setting. + Monitor Routed Exports to ensure compliance by completing audits of shipments. + Assist in identifying potential trade compliance risks, evaluate impact and develop strategies to mitigate the risks effectively. + Monitor of Export controls, Embargo sanctions and to clear Denied Party screening holds. + Assist in the correct application of customs regulations in terms of valuation, tariff classification, ECCN classification and country of origin (preferential and non-preferential) + Ensures compliance with US government and corporate recordkeeping and retention guidelines. + Will support trade compliance team with other special projects and day to day operations tied to US export trade compliance. + Assists with any BIS, CBP and any other partner government agency on information requests. **Qualifications** **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** + 3-5 years of experience at a minimum in US export compliance, including export documentation and recordkeeping. + Experience working with medical device companies. + Knowledge of maintaining trade master data in ERP systems and related databases. + Experience in maintaining positive relationships with internal customers and external vendors and consultants. + Strong computer skills are required with expertise in MS Office Suite such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel as well as other internet applications. + Good communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are required to communicate and interact across all the company. + Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. + Technical knowledge of trade compliance regulations and requirements. + Solid organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and to work independently with minimum supervision. + Detail-oriented and analytical with demonstrated problem-solving skills. + Understanding of the sensitivity around confidential company information. + Team oriented, possess a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with others. + Willing to learn and adapt to a changing environment. + Prior practice working with domestic and international air, ocean and truck transportation, international freight forwarders and small pack couriers. + Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. **Work Environment:** + Prolonged sitting in front of a computer **Education:** + Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. + Bachelor’s degree preferred.
