What You'll Be Doing:
Manage annual control scoping and planning efforts for the US Region.Rationalize existing risks, controls, and measures within the SOX & Regulatory Reporting programs. Make improvements where warranted; typically at the beginning of the fiscal year, prior to testing. As new products are introduced that would fall into scope, work with business owners and support staff to ensure they complete new control documentation timely.Analyze internal control, operational, business and other financial statement issues that arise from internal metrics and work with the control owners to resolve and define their action plans.Analyze control related information received from internal business units and determine the impact on financial reporting controls. Recommend changes on internal controls to control owners and lead business units to take timely and appropriate remedial actions on their outstanding gaps. In addition, analyze aggregated internal and external audit findings to determine the impact on financial reporting controls.Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to drive increased efficiency.Oversee the implementation of new products, system implementations and changes to ensure the control considerations are properly addressed.Oversees the HUD and FDICIA (part 363) regulatory reporting and coordinates their completion with external audit and management.Periodically update the Bancorp Reporting Control Steering and Audit Committees on any control deficiencies and changes.Interacts with internal and external audit and coordinates appropriately with both to maximize efficiencies in the annual SOX and Internal Controls programs for financial and regulatory reporting.Build relationships with business unit senior management. Develop a communication plan to allow for regular discussion of control concerns. Has significant exposure to Management across the US Region.Required Skills & Experience:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.CPA required; CIA a plus.7 + years experience in public accounting and/or internal audit, or in leading a SOX/FDICIA program. Big four experience preferred.Ability to understand and apply COSO and PCAOB requirements and apply them to the Bank’s key process, IT, and entity level controls.Solid written and oral communication skills, and be able to effectively present internal control matters to Senior Management and the Bank’s Audit Committee.Experience in US Regulatory Reporting and associated quality assurance controls a plus.Strong understanding of SSAE 18 requirements and related reporting and how to interpret information included in third party SOC 1 reports.Detail oriented and well organized demonstrating the ability to work independently.Advanced PC skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Knowledge of MetricStream GRC, Alteryx and other business intelligence software a plus.At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
