If so, we are seeking a Consultant Experienced Engineer to join our Chassis team based in Greensboro, NC. You will report to the Engineering Group manager, Chassis Equipment & Transport Adaptation.
Responsibilities
+ Take product ownership and engineering responsibility, independently delivering tasks in assigned Chassis Equipment function areas.
+ Integrate deliveries from other cross-functional stakeholders and secure quality and delivery readiness of engineering design releases.
+ Perform design activities from concept to production phase, support verification & validation activities, and any corrective actions during design maturity stages.
+ Complete engineering activities, drawings, engineering change releases, and packaging verification within the area of function group responsibility.
+ Prepare and support design review for manufacturing (DFM), aftermarket (DFAM), and quality tools related to function area assignment.
+ Work with analysis group (FEA, CFD analyst) to validate the designed parts and determine the most optimum approach for actual or potential problems.
+ Support testing activities and prototype procurement, and plan for accelerated endurance testing of components/assemblies in the area of responsibility.
+ Work with suppliers/vendors during sourcing, tooling development, quality issues, and reviewing & approving supplier requests for engineering changes.
+ Provide engineering support for prototype/methods/pilot builds at production plants and corrective actions for vehicle audit issues.
+ Resolve factory, assembly, lab, project, and product issues as tracked in the Jira Product Issue Log (PIL) system within the area of responsibility.
+ Issue engineering work requests for testing (TWR), analysis work requests (AWR), engineering shop work requests, and rapid prototyping.
+ Assure compliance with applicable vehicle regulations (FMVSS, FMCSR, EPA, CARB, etc.) related to the area of responsibility.
+ Respond to technical reports and provide corrective guidance and recommendations resulting from verification & validation activities.
+ Manage, update, and issue changes in the product data management system KOLA for timely design release changes.
+ Work in a cross-functional mode with all other line organization team members to secure technical solutions for the assigned function area within Chassis Equipment.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
+ 5-7+ years of experience in product development projects in the commercial vehicles industry or equivalent.
+ 5+ years of experience with CREO/PRO-E (sheet metal, castings, piping, etc.) and applied knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
+ Knowledge of product development life cycle and manufacturing processes.
+ Self-awareness, self-driven with a positive, global, problem-solving, and growth mindset.
+ Experience working in an Agile environment (with product owner or scrum master) is a plus.
+ Previous OEM experience is a plus.
+ Knowledge of class 8 heavy-duty trucks is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in product development life cycle.
+ Experience in manufacturing processes.
+ Applied knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
+ Experience working in an Agile environment.
+ Previous OEM experience and knowledge of class 8 heavy-duty trucks is a plus.
Work Environment
The role is based at the Technical Center in Greensboro headquarters with an open desk environment. Lockers are provided.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00
