Sam’s club is a membership-based retail warehouse club owned and operated by Walmart. With more than 600 physical clubs across different geographic region in US, Sam’s Club chain serves more than 50 million US members and is rated among the top retailers in US. 
Your Opportunity
Team is looking for a strong Software Engineer who will drive building next generation Walmart suite of products and platform by designing, coding, building, and deploying highly scalable and robust cloud-based solutions. The role is expected to make a difference to the product in terms of the design and contribute towards identifying technical risks and find alternate solutions to various problems. In addition to that, the role also demands to lead, motivate, mentor, and provide ample guidance to the other team members with respect to technical challenges.
 
What you’ll do:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll spend your days translating requirements into solutions, writing code, user queries, collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing us with the insights necessary to think beyond the status quo. You’ll have the opportunity to manage complex challenges of scale unique to SAMS club and omni-channel platform, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, triage and analysis, and large-scale system design.

What you'll do:
•    Lead and participate in medium-to-large-scale projects by engaging in requirement refinement discussions with stakeholders, translating requirements into technical solutions, estimating levels of efforts, planning timelines with cross-functional dependency teams, developing code and tests, producing testing and rollout strategies, communicating status and issues to team members, stakeholders, and leadership, and ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs.
•    Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs, micro services and components using technologies like Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, NoSQL DB etc.
•    Perform design and code reviews, suggest improvements to ensure the highest level of quality and maintainability.
•    You’ll lead other engineers in the team including offshore team who will look to you as a trusted advisor, a subject matter expert who provides guidance and the right tools to get the job done.
•    Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation. 
•    Participates in the discovery phase of medium to large-sized projects to produce high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.
•    Research and identifying alternative solutions, determining needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business.
 
What you'll bring:
We are looking for someone that has experience in JAVA full stack. You have and can implement big ideas with a positive attitude. You want to be a part of the team to disrupt this industry and you have these main skills.
•    Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline with 6+ years of core software product development experience.
•    Extensive understanding of Kubernetes,  microservice architecture and design, and best practices around multithreading, networking, and performance tuning 
•    Expert level knowledge and understanding of Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Postgres SQL/My SQL, Cloud(GCP), Micro services, Docker , Kubernetes, and experience working with distributed systems and teams.  
•    A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next level and a passion for adopting the latest features in Kubernetes, Java, and Spring Boot.
•    You have a deep interest and passion for technology. You love writing and owning code and enjoy working with people who will keep challenging you at every stage. You have strong problem solving, analytic, decision-making skills. You are self-driven and motivated with the desire to work in a fast-paced, results-driven agile environment with varied responsibilities.
•    Hands on in developing web applications using Microservices , Kafka and Database skills.
•    Experience with Cloud Computing platforms: Microsoft Azure, Google cloud or similar is a plus.
•    Understands performance and Automation aspects of coding to develop high performing services using Spring , Spring boot , Microservices.
•    Usage of NOSQL and RDBMS DB , Docker , Kubernetes, CI/CD Experience.
•    Implementing CI/CD pipeline and best coding practices.
•    Desirable Skills
•    Experience in migration of monolith to Microservices.
•    Experience working with Reactive Java.
•    Experience working with front end stack like React JS/Node Js
