USCAN and Global Benefits Leader
Job Description SummaryWe are seeking a dynamic and strategic Retirement and Healthcare Leader to provide strategic direction and leadership for benefits strategy and design, cost management and cost sharing consistent with the Total Rewards strategy. The role has key responsibility for benefits and leave program designs for the US, Canada and Puerto as well and global benefits governance and global defined benefit pension strategy and governance. The role ensures benefit programs support organization’s objectives, are cost effective and competitive and meet all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will drive innovation and assess current plan designs to ensure they align with our company’s culture and contemporary practices. Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices based on industry, labor and regulatory environment. This role will partner with internal teams and external advisors to ensure regulatory compliance, governance, and interpretation of plan provisions and is the main voice of strategy to senior leaders and public relations.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Develop the long-term strategy and oversee the financial management of all benefit programs and contracts for the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Identify and contract for innovative and cost-effective services covering company-sponsored and voluntary benefit programs including health and welfare, navigation, point solutions and COEs, leave programs, retirement and miscellaneous plans.Direct all aspects of benefits communications including the US, Canada and Puerto Rico annual enrollment and new hire benefits messaging and all other communications, including legal disclosures and notices, related to benefits programs.Lead global benefits governance and collaborate with global regional Total Rewards teams to provide direction and support to principles, global pooling, and brokerage relationships.Oversee governance for all global defined benefit and non-qualified plans.Align with Legal and Finance teams to ensure completion of actuarial valuations, plan audits, discrimination testing and regulatory requirements.Build an effective relationship between Total Rewards Benefits Strategy team and People Operations to ensure effective and compliant administration, communications and delivery of benefit programs. Work collaboratively across HR in support of other business priorities including union negotiations, administrative and governance committees, M&A activities etc.Serve as Chair of Benefits Administrative Committee and other areas as designatedProvide coaching and professional development opportunities for three direct and four indirect reportsPromote diversity, equity, and inclusion within benefits programs.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility and proven experience in strategic planning and innovation in benefits programs, program implementation and budget managementStrong knowledge of global pension and regulated benefitsStrong knowledge of ERISA, IRS, ACA, DOL and other laws relating to health and welfare and retirement plans; familiarity with Works Councils and Trustee requirements outside the U.S.Knowledge of global benefits pooling and brokerage strategies.Broad knowledge of business operations and alignment to cultural operating principlesExpertise in managing significant change and commitment to continuous improvement and innovationProficiency in both written and oral communication – ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization, including CEO and members of the Benefits CommitteeExcellent leadership and team collaboration skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills:

Master’s degree in Business or related field.Certification in benefits management (e.g., CEBS, CBP).Experience in the healthcare or med-tech industry.Ability to understand and support labor relations/negotiations activities.

For U.S. based positions only, the pay range for this position is $232,000.00-$348,000.00 Annual. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
