They efficiently prepare the space then ensure patrons, artists, and staff have a safe and enjoyable experience from the time their ticket is scanned, to their safe departure from the venue. In the event of emergency, Ushers are the expert in safety procedures and work together to enact the safety plan. **Responsibilities** + Assist the House Manager with event setup and tear down in the lobbies, auditorium, and outside on the plaza. + Scan tickets to verify validity, and direct attendees to their destination. Resolve seating issues as needed. + Provide clear direction, maintain order, and prevent panic in a crisis. + Hand out programs and answer questions. + Enforce venue policies. + Keep the theatre property clean and free of debris. + May cross-train and work as a Box Office Cashier, Concessions, Merchandise Seller, or Crossing Guard as staffing needs require. **Minimum Qualifications** Excellent customer service and human relations skills; the ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and resolve issues. May be required to stand for a number of hours at a time, lift 10 lbs., and/or walk up and down stairs multiple times. No previous experience or education required, but due to the crowd management and safety aspects of this position, demonstrated ability to perform all of the below is required. + Available to work flexible shifts, proactively communicate availability, and be punctual for all shifts. + Be able to work as part of a team. + Have excellent customer service skills and conflict de-escalation and resolution abilities with patrons of all ages and backgrounds, recognizing various approaches are required depending on the situation. + Be able to exercise judgment to resolve issues or know when contacting a supervisor is the right course of action. + After receiving training on electronic devices, ticket scanners, cash registers, cash app readers, radios, and similar, be able to confidently operate and troubleshoot on them. + Assist patrons with disabilities by adjusting removable seating, checking out assisted listening devices, and similar. + Be able to walk, sit, stand for the duration of your shift. Must be able to walk up and down stairs, and the ramped auditorium throughout your shift. + Must be able to lift 20 lbs. + Must be able to speak clearly and hear or lip-read adequately.
