THE WORK

The candidate will be the International Strategy and Business Development lead for the International Submarine sub-market within the Undersea Warfare (USW) Market Segment in RMS’s C6ISR line of business. The candidate will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, shaping and leading various international captures across both foreign military sales, direct commercial sales. The candidate will work with the international sub-market program director and sub-market business development professionals to manage and grow the international submarines business.

Key member of the USW Business Development team in Manassas, Virginia responsible for the market analysis and early opportunity identification across the International Submarine Program’s business development portfolio. Plans and executes new business and program growth activities including opportunity assessment, capture management, competitive assessment and positioning, teaming/subcontracting strategy, and customer relationship development. Coordinates with other internal functional departments that are identifying/implementing business development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying resource requirements, capture strategies and marketing plans for new international growth pursuits. Communicates plans with senior management and represents Lockheed Martin in key customer, subcontractor and teaming meetings.
The candidate should be familiar with sonar systems (surface and submarines), submarine weapon systems, submarine combat subsystems (Imaging, Navigation, Radar, ESM, etc) and combat system integration. The candidate will be responsible to expand and extend USW products into international markets and emerging unmanned platform mission area, develop and execute call plans and work very closely with the USW Program Office and technical teams to execute the strategy. This position has responsibility for business development and program growth initiatives for International Submarine programs.

Basic Qualifications:
Candidate should have insight into the international undersea market and demonstrated ability to assess approaches and candidate strategies. Prior experience in international business development, an active secret clearance, ability to travel internationally and a comprehensive understanding of export licensing and policy.

• 15+ years of business development and/or operational experience.
• Strong technical and operational experience and understanding of Combat Weapon Systems, Command and Control, Sensors and Torpedoes
• Understanding of key regional partner Government structures and acquisition processes to include Ministry of Defense and main component services in each country.
• Understanding of US military strategy and policy in allied countries
• Must be self-motivated and able to operate with minimal guidance and succeed in a highly competitive arena.
Desired Skills:
• Demonstrates high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and deal with top level customers, company and other personnel.
• Knowledge of International Submarine Combat System Market, Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales contracting and FMS process with USG organizations.
• Experience working with the US Embassies and military commands across the region.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to clearly articulate strategies at multiple levels of business and government.
• Understanding Asian and European region cultures.
• Experience working Asia, Europe and North America regional consultants and trading companies.
• Deal closer – highly effective at bringing tasks and projects to a successful and timely conclusion.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
