Under general direction of the Foreman, performs a variety of unskilled duties in the boiler house, waste treatment and water treatment buildings. Handles chemicals, shovels sand in waste treatment sand beds, grading by small tractor and by hand. Softens water, digs ditches and excavations for water main breaks, sewer work; cleans sewers and manholes. May operate and clean industrial types of mechanical equipment such as scrubbing machines, buffers and pickup machines. Assists maintenance mechanics in the performances of various unskilled labor tasks.
