Job Summary

Utilities Operator
The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for Utilities operations of the production facility at our Cedar Rapids, IA facility. Conduct the duties of a Boiler Operator for three high pressure boilers as prescribed by law. Operates and documents all systems and services of the Utilities Department, including the boilers, compressed air, chillers, fire systems and water treatment.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to be responsible for the following tasks:

Must be willing to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays in a 24X7 operation.Provides coverage for alternate shift operators in their absence.Monitor and troubleshoot utilities through Data historian, HMI’s and Distributed control system.Adheres to the sites GMP and Safety programs in the Utilities Department.Collects processing samples both liquid and solid waste samples; takes readings such as wastewater flow, air flow, temperature, pH and chemical feed rates.Operates various mobile equipment, including but not limited to, bobcat, forklift, cherry picker, and scissor lifts.Supports and assists maintenance activities. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Clean and wash down transfer points and /or anywhere spillage may occur.Work with engineering to development capital/expense projects that target improvements.Troubleshoot equipment such as valves, pumps, hoses, etc.Actively participate in crew and department activities (including definition of best practices, consensus decision making, SOP development and maintenance, training, continuous improvement efforts and standardization)

You are qualified if you have the following education, experience, skills, and attributes:

Minimum 6 years’ experience in an industrial plant environment.Ability to climb stairs/ladders along with the ability to work above floor surface (heights).Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Vessel entry and confined space capable.Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.Excellent Interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.Proficient in computer programs such as SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.Strong team player with an ability to work with all functional teams within the plant.Self-starter with good organizational and problem-solving skills.Ability to organize and lead group discussions.
