Utilities Supervisor

Utilities Supervisor is responsible for supervising, planning, and directing the day-to-day operation of the steam and power functions, with respect to equipment, facility, and environment. The Utilities Supervisor will perform non-repetitive, supervisory duties which facilitate equipment performance daily. Utilities Supervisor will work inside & outside of the plant to effectively manage equipment performance, building upkeep, building climate, environmental discharges and assure environmental compliance. The Utilities Supervisor will direct all steam and power team members in their assigned areas and ensure that all paperwork and tasks are distributed and properly completed. They will maintain a safe work environment and monitor all necessary procedures to ensure compliance with HACCP, USDA, OSHA, and EPA guidelines. Utilities Supervisor will provide day to day supervision of the steam and power team including overall responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the ammonia refrigeration, and boilers, and will assist with wastewater treatment, plus other support areas as assigned. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and works in tandem with maintenance supervisors. This position will also support all aspects of project management: both capital and non-capital related.

Essential Functions:
• Maintain safe and productive work environment to meet facility and process requirements.
• Actively participate in safety initiatives, including VPP sub-committees, safety audits, and safety assessments.
• Direct workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
• Directs the steam and power team in the day-to-day operations to include safety, production, cost, quality, team building, and other areas as required to meet facility goals.
• Identify employee development needs and coordinate appropriate training ensuring personnel attain/retain skills and technical information necessary.
• Comprehensive understanding and ability to lead and direct employees in PSM and RMP systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of refrigeration systems, steam systems, pneumatic systems, and wastewater treatment systems.
• Effective project management skills include the ability to develop capital plans, CERs, and other projects as assigned.
• Liaison with both the corporate and plant levels personnel
• Develop and manage procedures for wastewater treatment, roof systems, boilers, and other maintenance/facilities projects within the plants CMMS.
• Utilization of the computerized maintenance management system to document, analyze, and manage the equipment preventative maintenance process.
• Proactively address issues concerning refrigeration units or systems and maintain systems in accordance with company HACCP, OSHA, EPA, and USDA guidelines.
• Manage outside contractors on projects.
• Expert ability to utilize Microsoft software including but not limited to: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access.
• Ability to use PLC software such as Rockwell.
• Currently possess or be able to obtain an Arkansas boiler license.
• Currently possess or be able to obtain a Universal Refrigerant license.
• Ability to manage environmental programs such as storm water, air, tier II, and Form R

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
• Extensive knowledge of refrigeration systems and function components.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of OSHA’s Process Safety Management program and requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of refrigeration theory, cycle and operation.
• Thorough knowledge of Boilers and Steam Systems
• Thorough knowledge of Wastewater Treatment systems
• Knowledge of equipment, proper operation, and familiarity with the manufacturer’s Preventative Maintenance requirements for the equipment.
• Knowledge of GMP and food safety procedures and guidelines
• Knowledge of computer software systems such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, RS Logix, AutoCad, and Siemens.
• Project management skills
• Working knowledge of electrical systems
• Working knowledge of pneumatic systems

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree engineering or related field from four-year College or university preferred; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have supervisory experience.
• Prefer experience in food manufacturing.
