This position is in the Target Forward Program. Employees at Metro Water Services (MWS) work around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high-quality drinking water and the best in wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and waste collection services for our customers in the Nashville-Davidson County area. Our employees work together to service more than 210,000 water and 216,000 sewer accounts, along with over 150,000 curbside waste collection customers. We are looking for highly engaged individuals to join our team. This position must be available for on-call rotations, and available after hours to respond to emergencies as necessary. Typical Duties First Response: + Investigates customer concerns and reports findings related to water infrastructure such as water leaks, low/high pressure etc. + Investigates customer concerns and reports findings related to sewer infrastructure such as sewer backups, stoppages, etc. + Documents work utilizing various software and technologies to effectively communicate status of work. + Communicates and coordinates with contractors, plumbers, residents, and other Metro departments as needed related to MWS procedures, polices and regulations. + Locates and marks water and sewer utility mains using various electronic equipment. + Performs inspections on water and/or sewer repair activities. + Adheres to all safety rules and regulations including the use of appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) System Services (Damage Prevention): + Works with contractors, plumbers and residential customers responding and coordinating in accordance with TN One Call/Tennessee811 for water, sewer and stormwater related infrastructure + Investigates infrastructure damages caused by others to determine responsibility and costs of repairs/restoration + Maintains and prepares damage information including MWS costs for repairs and restoration for billing + Prepares daily and monthly summary reports + Meets with contractors in the field to ensure sufficient protection of infrastructure is always maintained + Enforces MWS open excavation requirements to minimize damage to MWS assets and associated infrastructure + Communicates with other Metro departments and State agencies regularly + Works with Metro utility locating contractor and confirms their utility markings for accuracy + Serves as a 1st responder as required System Services Sewer Maintenance + Inspecting sewer main lines with CCTV equipment, Creating and closing work orders in Hansen and Service Link for field activities. + Performing routine maintenance and small repairs on vehicles and equipment as needed + Utilizing GIS map software for data on water and sewer infrastructure + Transferring CCTV inspection videos to Granite software program + Using Mobile Workforce Management to manage and respond to service requests and work orders + Creating and completing work orders in IPS or current CMMS system + Leading sewer maintenance helpers as needed + Responding to sewer emergencies in an on-call role outside of normal work shift + Initiating emergency utility excavations and marking infrastructure for repair + Submitting overflow regulatory forms to TDEC + Submitting detailed drawings for map corrections when conditions in the field do not match current GIS maps Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of responsible inspection, investigative, water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure maintenance or compliance experience in support of a regulatory program or service. LICENSES REQUIRED Valid Driver’s License Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
