Utility Designer

Job Description:

Overview

This position is responsible for providing design support for residential and commercial developments.

Responsibilities

Utilize ArcGIS functions in daily work.

Communicate with customers and provide project status on a consistent basis.

Coordinate and communicate with project team in creating Electrical and Natural Gas Infrastructure Designs to meet overall project objectives and deadlines (for CPS Energy).

Prepare and/or revise construction and planning documents as well as exhibits within company standards from redlines.

Ability to follow and implement Pape-Dawson QA/QC and agency checklists into construction documents.

Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete designs.

Inform Project Manager(s) of progress on assigned projects and request work when needed.

Maintain organized work area to allow access of project information by other team members.

Flexible in work assignments and team assignments.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.

Apply for utility permits, as needed.


Qualifications

Detail oriented with high level of accuracy.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.

Customer service knowledge and experience.

Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice as changes occur in project needs.

Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional overtime as needed.

Working knowledge of CPS Energy enterprise ArcGIS, electric distribution design standards, natural gas distribution design standards, asset and resource management (ARM), Microsoft Office.


Preferred Qualifications

Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Design, Geographic Information Systems, or other Associates Degree in Civil Engineering emphasis. #LI-TJ1

Working knowledge of civil construction documents.
