Utility Engineer
Job Title: Utility EngineerLocation: Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center Hourly Rate: $24.65 Job Description:The Utility Engineer will perform essential maintenance and support tasks under the supervision of an Operating and/or Maintenance Engineer. This role involves working alongside senior engineers on shift to assist with a variety of duties related to the facility’s engineering operations, ensuring a safe and functional environment. Union Membership: The Engineering Department at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center is under a contract bargaining agreement with Union Local 501. As a condition of employment, the Utility Engineer will be required to join the union and abide by its terms and conditions. Key Responsibilities: + Clean and maintain engineering rooms and workspaces to ensure a safe and orderly environment. + Perform minor electrical repairs, including replacing light bulbs and using a voltage tester (not to exceed 120 volts). + Replace heating and ventilation filters to maintain HVAC systems. + Record meter and instrument readings for equipment serving the facility, ensuring accurate documentation. + Provide general labor support, including loading, unloading, and moving materials, as well as running errands as needed. + Assist Operating and/or Maintenance Engineers with routine tasks and facility upkeep, as requested. Requirements: + Ability to work effectively in a team under the guidance of senior engineers. + Willingness to perform physical tasks, such as moving materials and basic maintenance activities. + A proactive attitude with a focus on safety and attention to detail. + Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions carefully. + This role will be performed under the supervision of an Operating or Maintenance Engineer, and the Utility Engineer will not be assigned to complex mechanical, electronic, or technical tasks that require specialized tools. Working Conditions: + The Utility Engineer will work alongside an Operating and/or Maintenance Engineer on each assigned shift. + Must be available to work assigned shifts as required by the needs of the facility.
