JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Supervise and coordinate your employee’s work, support local network and employee needs, and perform the duties required for the installation and repair of Distribution Automation (DA) devices. The relay foreman must be available for callouts and extended hours.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond to and resolve customer issues in a timely and professional manner.
Provide leadership and guidance to DA team members, line, and service personnel.
Champion safe work practices and ensure compliance to Company Safety Rules.
Work to ensure network goals and objectives are met.
Organize DA work for team members.
Manage multiple tasks and inputs simultaneously.
Work with others and maintain a positive attitude in extreme working conditions.
Must have a strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, accuracy, and data integrity in order to direct DA team members safely to install and maintain DA devices.
Assist in Network operations, storm restorations, and directing of contract crews.
Motivate and influence a diverse and geographically dispersed work force dealing with a wide variety of safety and training issues.
Assume DA Line Supervisor's duties for a short time in their absence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent or related work experience.
Preferred: 2-year technical degree in Electronics/Instrumentation
Minimum Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in the electric utility industry, or in a related industrial field
Preferred:
5-10 years' experience in electrical substation maintenance or construction preferred.
5 years of Distribution Automation, protection, and control theory experience or equivalent.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Able to work with little direction with a high level of organization to accomplish multiple projects simultaneously
Must be available for 24-hour callout and extended hours
Must be certified and able to perform substation switching
Preferred:
Proficient in transmission relay protection schemes including: Power Line Zone Distance Protection, Permissive and Blocking Schemes, Transformer and Bus Differential Protection, Fiber Optic Communication Schemes, Power Line Carrier Schemes
Proficient with RTU SCADA programming (GE: D20, D25, D400 ; SEL RTAC)
Proficient with microprocessor based relay applications ( SEL Engineering, GE, ABB)
