Utility Inspector
Job Title: Utility InspectorJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Construction Inspector for Water and Sewer Projects. This role is based in Chesapeake, Virginia, with travel to job sites in the local area, including Suffolk. As an owner's representative, you will ensure compliance and quality assurance on various construction projects. Responsibilities + Provide on-site compliance inspections and quality assurance. + Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to standards. + Communicate with and advise contractors on work deficiencies and necessary corrections. + Research proper inspection and construction methods for each work activity. + Perform required materials testing as necessary. + Review monthly payment applications. + Communicate effectively and professionally with agency, contractor, and company personnel. + Maintain project records, including daily diaries with detailed information on work locations, workforce, equipment, and materials, as well as project photos. + Review and report on construction work zones and traffic control devices. + Track and record materials, showing quantities received, used, and tested. + Assist with final inspections and create/track punch list items through project closeout. + Obtain and maintain certifications required for inspecting construction activities. + Participate in company activities, including area and company meetings. Essential Skills + Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction work. + Basic understanding of construction means and methods for water and sewer projects. + Experience with large diameter water mains, large diameter sewer force mains, gravity sewers, bypass systems, pump stations, SCADA systems, line stops, sewer CIPP rehabilitation, and manhole rehabilitation. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Utility inspection or construction experience in wet utilities, specifically water mains, sewer mains, pump stations, and treatment plants. + VDOT Certifications. Work Environment This is an on-site position, alternating between the office and various project sites. The role involves hands-on inspections and requires frequent communication with project teams and contractors to ensure compliance and quality. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
