Duties specific to this Utility Land Development Project Coordinator position include: Project plan review and permit application review for permitting. Code interpretation to assist in resolution of conflicts and provide technical support using documentation such as Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Austin’s Land Development Code, Utility Criteria Manual, Standard Specifications, Standard Details, and Austin Water policies for residential and commercial plan review, tap plan review, and flag lot subdivisions. Coordinate with other City Departments and Austin Water Divisions (such as Special Services, Collection System Services, Pipeline Engineering, Distribution System Services, Retail Customer Service, and Systems Planning), City Departments (such as Law, Austin Fire, Development Review, Watershed, Public Works, and Parks), consultants, developers, and landowners as needed. Attend and assist in committee meeting and special projects as assigned.
Critical Position:
This position has been designation as critical for the City of Austin. Critical positions are necessary and vital and support activities that impact City or department operations. Work can be done while at a designated work site or while working at an alternate work location. Critical employees may be reassigned to another area to provide essential services to support any extraordinary situations or emergency conditions.

Coordinates and represents Austin Water interests in various high profile program areas and projects, which may include determining and assessing overall program goals, objectives, resources requirements, and ensuring alignment with Utility goals, Land Development Code, Plumbing Code, criteria manuals, and standard details and specifications. Coordinates with internal, external, inter-departmental, and multi-agency stakeholders to address design constraints from project inception to post design. This includes site and subdivision plans and capital improvement projects contained within program areas. Assists with conflict resolution and project timelines sequencing to avoid significant cost overages for infrastructure projects, which may include scheduling and coordination of projects such as water or wastewater lines installed prior to street construction to optimize time and money and enhance public perception. Coordinates land development reviews to ensure compliance with Federal, State and City codes and regulations and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborates with other City departments and external agencies to ensure review consistency across all disciplines. Establishes program standards, methods, policies, and procedures for individual programs. Develops and implements process improvements and prepares modifications to address evolving requirements of the Land Development Code and Utility Criteria Manual relative to individual programs. Provides technical advice, assistance, guidance, and training to internal staff, external agencies, citizens, customers, department executives, commissioners and council members as relevant. Researches, reviews, and communicates findings on legal documents to include easements, plats, deeds, and land status determination letters. Represents the interests of Austin Water at various inter-departmental, multi-agency, boards, commissions, and citizen meetings. Makes informative presentations to management, councils, and commissions and the general public. Researches and implements best practices from other jurisdictions to improve safety, efficiency, and customer service.
