Focus: The Utility Locator is responsible for accurately identifying, locating, and marking underground utilities such as gas, water, sewer, electric, and telecommunications lines to ensure safe excavation activities and prevent damage to infrastructure. This role involves using advanced locating equipment, interpreting utility maps and blueprints, and coordinating with contractors, construction teams, and project managers.
Utility Locator Essential Job Functions:
Accurately locate and mark underground utilities (gas, water, electric, telecom) using specialized equipment. Interpret and cross-reference utility maps, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Document all utility locations with detailed reports for project teams and future reference. Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate locating equipment to ensure accuracy. Communicate with stakeholders to provide utility location data and address site safety concerns.Utility Locator Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in utility locating preferred.. 2 years of experience in utility locating or a related field. Proficiency with locating equipment and the ability to read maps and blueprints. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and adherence to safety protocols. Physical capability for outdoor work, including walking, lifting, and standing for extended periods.Location-Specific Requirements:
Must have a valid US Driver’s License. This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls if required. This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
