Utility Maintenance Technician

The Utility Maintenance Tech will verify all utilities including fluid coolers, boilers, chillers, air units, refrigeration units and others are in spec and operating properly. They will also conduct preventive maintenance on all utility equipment as needed.

Essential Duties:

Testing Water Samples to ensure the chemical make-up is in spec and making changes as needed. Check all Utility equipment for pump, seal or motor failures and render maintenance where necessary. Work with our Glycol heat transfer system; Maintain and check for system issues. Maintain Trane Chiller Units; keep within temperature parameters. Maintain Air Handler Systems, maintain the unit’s components to ensure they are always operational. Maintaining fluid cooling towers; ensure flow levels, temperature and sump levels stay in spec. Maintain our steam system including the boiler, DA Tank, condensate return pumps, and verify they are always operational.    Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred 2-5 years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC or boiler systems ideally in a manufacturing setting Freon Universal, HVAC certifications preferred Working knowledge of steam and pressure systems Forklift/Scissor Lift certified or willing to become certified Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Fluency in English; speak, read and write Self-Driven and motivated to grow Ability to work in cold and wet environment for prolonged periods of time Must be able to work in various temperature-controlled zones ranging from cold to hot Ability to operate equipment at recommended speeds and communicate mechanical and operational defects as they arise. Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays

Physical Demands:

Regularly stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms Regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Regularly taste or smell product Occasionally sit and occasionally climb ladders or work on a platform Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Must be able to frequently reach up to 31-77 inches.
