Position Summary This position is responsible for safely and efficiently performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, equipment operation and train unloading. The utility person is responsible for greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment and performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment. Observe visual and auditory signals during operation. Responsibilities Performs preventative and routine maintenance on mobile equipment, conveyor belts and other unload equipment including splicing, replacing idlers, pulleys, drive belts, and bearings, cleaning, and lubrication. This also includes cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnelPerforms daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance logUses a hand shovel and operates a skid steer and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking areasOperates a water truck to limit airborne dustParticipates in plant operations including train unload and quality controlMaintains good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the siteOperates plant-specific mobile equipment such as skid steer or loader in a safe manner as neededAides in the training of co-workers as neededMaintain strong communications with all other plant employees to ensure efficient and safe workflow from train unload area to stockpile.Performs other duties as assigned by supervisorEducation & Experience High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position1-3 years prior experience in the aggregate industry preferred; experience in aggregate plant operation and maintenance a plusKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a teamPossess effective coordination and communication skillsPossess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skillsAble to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervisionAble to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditionsAble to adhere to MSHA/OSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulationsAble to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by productionRequirements Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivatedWill take an active role in the plant safety initiativesWilling to work overtime and weekends as neededWilling to cross-train in different areas of train yard unload Physical Requirements Sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist, and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods in the same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment

Salary Posting:We are excited to share the base range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
