Utility Rates and Revenue Specialist
- Direct utility financial assessments including rate studies, long term financial plans, affordability studies and bond feasibility studies.
- Significant interaction and presentations to utility boards, City elected officials, and members of the general public.
- Prepare presentations and public education materials for public meetings and outreach sessions.
- Position requires significant experience developing and assisting utilities to understand, modify and implement new or modified rate structures and related revenue mechanisms such as impact, and connection fees and stormwater utility fees. This includes developing strategies and approaches to offset or mitigate the impacts and improve political acceptability.
- In addition, experience with electric, natural gas and solid waste rate setting beneficial.
- Provides project status updates to clients, as required.
- Manages implementation plans as appropriate.
- Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals and cost estimates in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs).
- Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.
- Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future organizational needs.
- Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
- Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Participate in Communities of Practice (CoP) activities.
- May participate in professional association and societies, attend conferences, contribute to papers, etc.
