Utility Worker - 2nd Shift

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Graduate or equivalent

Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals. Basic math, writing and data entry skills.

Ability to operate or to be trained to operate a forklift truck.

Ability to appropriately handle cleaning equipment, hazardous waste materials removal and storage, palletizer, snow removal tools and equipment and other necessary functions related to the job.

Specific Job Requirements:

(Equipment/Machinery Operated//Job Features)

Including but not limited to, hand trucks, floor scrubber, tenant sweeper, buffer, furniture moving equipment, cardboard baler and trash compactor.

Motor driven Forklift, other material handling equipment.

Move and arrange drums on pallet from floor.  Weigh drums and bags of raw materials, calculate usage required and containers as needed.

Combination of Janitor and Forklift duties, bottle dump, case pack, label, sprayers.

Required Competencies:

May be expected to move, carry, and lift approximately 60 pounds. May be expected to climb heights of approximately 18feet. Stand or sit for long periods of time.

Must be able to walk. Ability to read scales.  Manual dexterity and good peripheral vision required.  Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, as required.

Ability to access all parts of all production equipment, including, but not limited to the following:  confined spaces; ceiling mounted equipment; equipment in pits, machines that must be climbed, crawled under or otherwise entered with limited access.

Good hand/eye coordination.

Equipment listed below (Specific Job Requirements) may be used, as needed, to assist in these Required Competencies.

Duties:

 Performs the work associated with maintaining a clean, safe and attractive work environment. This includes aisle ways, stairways, lavatories, lunchroom, general manufacturing areas, and plant office floors. Waste containers must be emptied daily and returned to the designated areas.

Uses all cleaning equipment that is provided for performing his/her duties in an efficient manner.

Removes accumulated hazardous wastes from laboratory and other areas and for transporting such wastes to the hazardous waste storage area

Is responsible for safe clean up of chemical spills and blood borne pathogens.

Maintains parking lots; stairways and walkways in inclement weather, which may include sweeping, shoveling of snow and ice.

Performs other duties as directed by supervisor including a combination of Janitor and Forklift duties, bottle dump, case pack, label, sprayers. 

Duties Continued

Operates forklift trucks and other material handling equipment for the loading and unloading of railroad cars and trucks.

Is responsible for the delivery of the proper material on time to the various areas of the manufacturing processes or Distribution Center according to the requisitions or instructions given to him/her.  For example, case packing, labeling and bottle dumping.

Prepares finished goods for transportation to or from the Distribution Center.  Loads and offloads trailers and stores finished and unfinished products in the proper place.

Counts and verifies by proper item and lot number, all materials during palletization, loading and unloading and stores all materials in the proper place.

Assembles, weighs and stages raw materials and packaging components needed for production and maintains proper documentation.

Occasionally performs proper palletization of finished or unfinished products and storing them in the proper place as designated.

Refuels and recharges material handling equipment and responsible for the daily maintenance such as cleaning the equipment, checking the oil, water, battery and lubrication of the equipment.

Must exercise extreme caution in order to not damage other material or property while operating moving equipment and must at all times exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees.

Must maintain written and/or electronic records as required by management (i.e. cGMP or ISO procedures).

Is responsible for keeping equipment and surrounding work area clean at all times.

Under the direction and monitoring of department supervisor is responsible for the training of a replacement

Must maintain written and/or electronic records as required by management (i.e. cGMP and ISO procedures).

 Must exercise extreme caution in order to not damage material or property while operating equipment and must at all times exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees.

Is responsible for moving and loading hazardous wastes, as directed by the supervisor. 

Miscellaneous:

Reliable, good communication skills, able to work with all levels of the organization. 

Able to work with minimal direct supervision.

Previous Forklift experience desirable.

Performs necessary quality and inventory control data gathering and input in either written or electronic formats.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to organize and maintain organization.

Maintenance of personal hygiene.
