Utility Worker
**Job Title: Utility Worker (Grave Shift)** **Job Description** The Utility Worker (Grave Shift) performs a variety of semi-skilled mechanical, electrical, or general work in connection with the maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment and systems. This role involves physical effort and dexterity in the use of appropriate tools. The utility worker takes direction and assists tradespeople for the duration of an assignment and may be assigned to perform tasks requiring less skill independently. The utility worker assists in the installation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems, as well as building utility systems, and repairs building interiors such as doors, walls, and furnishings throughout the Medical Center. **Responsibilities** + Assist in the installation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems. + Perform installation and maintenance of building utility systems. + Repair building interiors such as doors, walls, and furnishings. + Initiate requisitions for tools, parts, and supplies required to perform work. + Advise Tool Room Attendant of material requirements. + Perform tasks requiring less skill independently involving inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of Medical Center equipment and systems. + Read and interpret mechanical piping blueprints and basic electrical schematics. + Respond to all calls, including the School of Medicine, Clinics, and SH&C. + Keep records, timecards, work requests, material slips, log book entries, charts, and record sheets accurate, legible, and turned in to supervisor in a timely manner. + Handle hazardous waste/materials including replacing batteries in faucets and replacing burned out fluorescent lamps. **Essential Skills** + Plumbing + Electrical + HVAC + Repair + Mechanical + Troubleshooting + Preventive maintenance + General Facilities upkeep **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + High School Diploma or GED equivalent + Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience + Valid California Driver’s License **Why Work Here?** Growth within trades, tuition reimbursement once converted, and a full benefits package. **Work Environment** Will work onsite at Stanford School of Medicine. Team of Chief Engineer, 4 ACEs, and engineers. Uniforms will be provided after training. Other trades present during shift. Non-union work environment for maintenance.
