**SUMMARY** The Utility Helper is responsible for assisting the machine operators in preparing, operating and cleaning the machines and production areas in a safe and productive manner. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Perform all job functions safely. + Follow the STOP safety principles and Safety Rules. + Maintain a clean work area. + Follow the principles of 5S. + Notify supervisor of any safety concerns. + Maintain an inventory of tools and supplies needed to operate and clean the plant and equipment. + Prepare raw or WIP materials needed to run the machine. + Operate material handling equipment if qualified or notify material handler when materials are needed to keep machine operating efficiently. + Assist the operator as directed by the operator and supervisor in setting up machines. + Assist the operator running the machine as directed. + Have the ability to keep machine operating while operator takes break and know how to shut off if problem arises. + Inspect material for quality. + Understand quality standards for the material running on the machine. + Inform operator and/or supervisor of any defects or problems. + STOP and ask questions if there are any question as to the quality of the material, defects found or the appropriate standards. + Remove rolls or skids from machines and label, wrap and/or strap the material as directed. + Help maintain inventories including cycle counts and inventory scanning. + Understand the use of the computer system and scan guns + Help clean and maintain a safe and productive workplace. + Fill other position as needed. **RELATIONS WITH OTHERS** Frequent inside contacts with co-workers and immediate supervisor. **QUALIFICATIONS** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
