Description

Job Summary:The Utility Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance, and operational efficiency of company vehicles and facilities. This position requires versatility, as it involves performing vehicle cleaning, fueling, inspections, minor maintenance, and supporting other operational roles as needed. The Utility Worker must be adaptable, reliable, and safety-conscious, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:Vehicle Cleaning & Maintenance:Washes vehicle exteriors using power washers and brushes.Sweeps, removes trash, and cleans vehicle interiors.Probes fare boxes and replenishes vehicle fluids as needed.Reports any maintenance issues to the Supervisor.Vehicle Handling & Fueling:Drives, maneuvers, and parks company vehicles safely.Fuels vehicles and logs all fluids used.Facility & Equipment Maintenance:Performs light maintenance to shop areas, fueling stations, and related facilities.Ensures compliance with safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.Vehicle Inspections & Charging:Conducts routine vehicle inspections and reports any issues.Ensures consistent implementation of inspection and maintenance procedures.Charges and stages vehicles as required.Support for Maintenance & Operations Teams:Assists Maintenance Technicians with minor repairs and general upkeep.Supports Shuttle Attendant and Command Center Agent duties as needed, particularly during staff shortages.Additional Duties:Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.Completes any other tasks assigned to support operations.Qualifications:Education, Licensing & Certifications:High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, cleaning procedures, and operational safety protocols.Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transporting heavy objects.Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service-oriented mindset.Adaptability to changing priorities and willingness to take on multiple roles as needed.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.Experience:At least one year of experience in janitorial, vehicle detailing, or maintenance preferred.Skills & Knowledge:Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and cleaning procedures.Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and safety training materials.Ability to use cleaning equipment such as buffers and scrubbing machines.Strong communication and customer service skills.Flexibility to take on multiple roles based on operational needs.Pre-Employment Requirements:Must pass a drug test, physical examination, and criminal background check.Physical Requirements:Work is performed primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and handling materials.Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.Exposure to cleaning chemicals, with access to safety protective gear provided.Travel Requirement:Less than 5% (occasional meetings or operational support as needed).Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
