My client, an international financial organization located in Washington, DC has an immediate need for a Sr. User Experience Engineer. The user experience engineer will perform the full range of responsibilities associated with user centered design methodology for software development. He/she will also conduct reviews of software products and provide guidance on how to remediate usability issues. He/she must be able to explain usability principles and techniques to both technical team members and business sponsors.
Essential Job Functions:
Interact directly with business sponsors and subject matter experts to understand business requirements and constraintsCarry out user modeling and task analysis, and develop personas and scenariosConduct user research and communicate findings of user researchCreate or advise on content architecture and navigation designUnderstand complex user requirements and technical constraints, and translate them into simple user interfaceDesign page level layout, page flow, and task fulfillmentPropose design solutions for identified usability problems in existing applicationsDevelop wireframes, prototypes, etc., for large, complex applicationsEnsure application level consistency with respect to visual design and interaction componentsAdhere to design, usability, and standardsMake recommendations to solve complex interaction problems and improve overall user experience with an application and across different applicationsConduct expert reviews of websites and web applicationsEducational Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar fieldRole Specific Experience: 7+ years of experienceHigh level of visual design expertiseCertification Requirements:
Usability Analyst certification desirableRequired Skills/Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of usability engineering and information architectureAdvanced knowledge of interaction designAdvanced understanding of information systems and application development methodologiesAdvanced understanding of the trade-offs between optimum user experience and technical, information security, and business constraints, and ability to propose appropriate compromisesKnowledge of storyboarding/prototyping, Axure, usability testing, and survey toolsStrong interpersonal skills and a team playerExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
