Job Title: Senior UX Designer
Location: Naperville, IL (On-site 5 days per week)

As we continue modernizing our tech stack, we’re seeking a Senior UI Designer with extensive experience in financial services to help shape the design and user interfaces of our next-generation investment platforms.
Position Overview:
As a Senior UX Designer, you will play a pivotal role in designing intuitive and visually engaging user interfaces across our digital platforms. With over 10 years of experience, you will collaborate closely with executive leadership, product managers, developers, and cross-functional teams to create designs that align with both business objectives and the needs of institutional and individual investors. Your expertise in finance or investment platforms (banking, wealth management, asset management, etc.) will ensure that the user interfaces are not only functional and aesthetically pleasing but also meet strict business and regulatory requirements.
This role requires a leader with a strong background in UI design for complex, data-driven financial tools. You’ll work directly with senior leadership to ensure our digital products deliver the highest standards of usability and design, with full visibility into organizational goals and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and drive UI design strategy for enterprise-level financial products, collaborating with executive leadership, product teams, and developers to translate user needs into visual design solutions.
• Design intuitive, responsive, and visually engaging web and mobile user interfaces for investment platforms, ensuring they meet business, user, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain high-quality visual design systems to ensure consistency and scalability across all digital platforms.
• Conduct in-depth user research and usability testing to inform visual design decisions and improve user interfaces based on user feedback.
• Mentor and guide junior designers, ensuring adherence to UI design best practices and maintaining high-quality design outputs.
• Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes to communicate design concepts effectively to stakeholders and development teams.
• Ensure that all designs are aligned with the brand's aesthetic and provide a seamless, consistent user experience across all platforms.
• Advocate for design best practices, ensuring that all UI solutions adhere to the highest standards of accessibility, usability, and visual appeal.
• Work closely with developers to ensure that designs are implemented accurately and efficiently, maintaining design integrity throughout the development process.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand market trends, user needs, and feedback to refine and enhance UI design solutions.
• Present design concepts and updates to senior leadership, articulating the rationale behind design decisions and how they contribute to business and user goals.
Required Qualifications:
• 10+ years of professional UI design experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing leadership in designing visually compelling and user-centered digital platforms, particularly within finance, banking, wealth management, or asset management sectors.
• Proven experience in collaborating with executive leadership and having full visibility into organizational goals and strategies.
• Expertise in designing complex, data-rich, and user-friendly financial platforms that prioritize usability and aesthetics.
• Proficiency in UI design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, and prototyping tools like InVision or Axure.
• Strong understanding of UI design principles, visual design trends, typography, color theory, and grid systems.
• Experience working within agile development environments and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and influence stakeholders at the senior leadership level.
• Experience working in financial services industry, including regulatory considerations, and how to design interfaces within these constraints. Preference in Wealth Management or Asset Management organizations.
• Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously and prioritize in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how design translates to code.
• Familiarity with design systems and their implementation across large-scale organizations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
On the UX designer role, emphasizing the focus on website work, usability, and the need for experience in implementing similar solutions. The balance between UX design and UI design, with the role leaning more towards the UI side. The UX designer will work closely with the team, including the business and executive stakeholders, to brainstorm ideas, create prototypes, and gather feedback. Client discusses the existing brand guidelines and the openness to new ideas and approaches, as well as the need for the UX designer to work quickly on rush development projects. The approach is to have a collaborative team setup with the designer, developer, UX specialist, business representative, and scrum master working together in a physical room for rapid design and development with frequent deployments and business input. The team emphasized the need for the designer to work well with others, including the business team and back-end developers, in a collaborative and interactive manner, rather than working in isolation and presenting the final product. They mentioned that additional designers may be brought in depending on the volume of work and changing priorities. The team mentioned that they would prefer the designer to have a financial background or experience working with data. The team outlined the interview process, which will include a video interview followed by an on-site interview, as the position is highly visible within the executive team. The team confirmed that the work schedule is five days a week in the office.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
