Amex Digital Labs is responsible for catalyzing digital innovation at American Express by originating, incubating, and leading emerging products and partnerships that represent significant business building opportunities both in terms of driving revenue and customer impact. We strive to emphasize creativity, customer centricity, and innovation. Focus areas include crafting industry-leading digital payment & commerce solutions, using our outstanding servicing network and lifestyle assets to build digital experiences, and defining new products and services based on emerging technologies and trends. 

The UX Team at Amex Digital Labs is responsible for driving and supporting the research, copy, design, and accessibility needs for a broad range of critical initiatives across e-commerce solutions, peer-to-peer payments, generative AI, digital identity, and other emerging technologies.

We’re looking for a UX Writer to join our team to work closely with designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to bring American Express’ world-renowned customer service to life through straightforward, accessible, customer-centric content. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can combine business needs with customer needs to drive the digital experience forward.

How will you make an impact in this role?

     Partner with product teams to create the vision and strategy for our customer-facing content; Drive cohesive narratives across multiple platforms and touch points, ensuring a smooth user experience. Collaborate with designers, researchers, and other key stakeholders throughout the UX design process to write and test user-focused solutions that optimize the user experience.       Apply a deep understanding of business requirements and tech constraints to inform written content, ensuring content vision aligns with product goals and objectives. Develop, write, and edit all written text the user encounters to guide them in completing the desired action. Review content to ensure it adheres to UX writing best practices, brand strategy, brand guidelines and accessibility standards. Lead initiatives that support product teams in improving their UX writing skills, including: developing a Digital Labs-specific style guide; analyzing current/past products and recommending UX-driven changes to benefit the end user; frequently communicating best practices and leading coaching sessions      Provide guidance to product teams on accessibility best practices, including alternative text, page titles, and link text.      Lead with an external perspective to inform our content strategy; Continuously share external learnings with the product teams and propose new ideas that will help us push the boundaries for our users

Minimum Qualifications

     Minimum 5 years of experience in a UX organization. Is more of a strategic thinker, less of a blank-filler.      Advocates for the end user.      Clearly articulates how copy addresses objectives and solves problems.      Skilled at proofreading and editing complex content for overall clarity and alignment with brand guidelines and user experience objectives.      Is a champion for collaboration, early and often.      Pivots quickly and supports several projects simultaneously.      Strong understanding of consumer behavior and digital trends across categories.      Exudes positivity, requires minimal supervision, and has a strong work ethic.      Is an ambassador for UX writing, playing a key role in helping this growing team reach its potential.      Considers content with accessibility in mind – ensure that the overall UX can be navigated by all types of users.      Communicate clearly and openly with external partners and stakeholders, including GCO and LOBCO, to back UX decisions with clear insights and proven benefits to the user.      Experience in working with technical and product development teams is a plus.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
